Simulators

The College operates four simulators (three Alsim FNPT2/one Frasca FNPT2) of which three are located in a dedicated Simulator Centre, a short distance from the Flight School. The fourth device is positioned in the Flight School at Requena. They are used for all aspects of the instrument rating flight syllabus - including route training using VOR, ADF, DME and ILS with twin-needle RMI and HSI displays. The Chief Simulator Instructor manages a team of six Instructors, all of whom have extensive airline flying experience and fully appreciate the need for pilots to understand the value and significance of synthetic training.

The FNPT2 (AL200-DA42) allows for the delivery of 40 hours dual training for the Instrument Rating on a Fixed Training Device (FTD). This high quality training device is considered capable of simulator style training benefits which when combined with our observed flying programme allows the course to be completed with the minimum amount of multi-engine aircraft time. On completion of Instrument Rating training and having satisfied all syllabus requirements for the issue of a JAR-FCL CPL/IR, Trainee Pilots will complete a Multi-Crew Co-operation Course (MCC) and a Jet Appreciation Course (JAC).
