Entry Requirements

Those wishing to enrol on a course and funding their own training must meet the following standards:

• Hold a PPL issued in accordance with ICAO. If you do not hold a PPL please visit www.cabairflyingschools.com.

• Have a minimum total flying experience of 155 hours. If you do not have 155 hours please visit Cabair Modular

• Hold a JAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. Initial examinations are conducted at the CAA Medical Department, Aviation House, Gatwick Airport South. The telephone number for Medical Reception is 01293 573700, then select option 1. Certificates issued by certain European authorities may be valid but the individual should check acceptability with the CAA.

• Have good English and a sufficient knowledge of Mathematics and Physics. Perhaps you would like to see an example of the level required for maths and physics. Those not meeting these standards, or concerned about their academic ability, should in the first instance contact us here. Assessment and Aptitude testing is available when required.

• Have received a full information pack from the College, including a formal Proposal of course fees with Terms and Conditions of business.

On completion of the full set of training modules and with the CPLH/IR (Frozen ATPLH) issued, the graduate can apply for the position of First Officer with any European multi-crew helicopter operator (subject to employment eligibility). A popular option remains to add a Flight Instructor Rating and then work as a PPLH Instructor in order to gain invaluable flying experience, before moving on either to single or multi-crew public transport work. It is possible to train for a Flight Instructor Rating having obtained a CPLH, but before completing the Instrument Rating Skill Test module.

Those considering this option should be aware that they must have a minimum total flying experience of 300 hours before being able to start Flight Instructor training.
