NEW DEGREE COURSE WITH INTEGRATED ATPL

Cabair College of Air Training at Cranfield (CCAT) are delighted to announce the launch of a brand new course in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University: a BA or BA (Hons) degree to accompany their JAA ATPL intregrated programme.

Students enrolling onto the CCAT Integrated ATPL with CCAT can at the same time enroll to study for a BA Air Transport degree over the same period that they are following the 62 week integrated course.

If they then decide to upgrade to an honors degree, this can be achieved following a further year of study via distance learning with the university.

This is a totally unique programme and has taken a considerable amount of time and effort by staff at the university to achieve accreditation of this course.

To celebrate the launch of this exciting new course, Charles Henry Chairman of The Cabair Group invited senior staff from BNU to join him for and inspection of the facilities at Cranfield, followed by lunch.

Dr Alastair Frobes, Dr Jenny Briedenhann and John Furley were collected by helicopter from Wycombe Aerodrome and flown to Cranfield, Bedfordshire, where  they were hosted by Charles, Mike Watt Chief Executive of CCAT and Keren Caird Sales and Marketing Manager CCAT.

BA Students:  Students study 60 credits by Flexible and Distributed Learning (FDL), giving a total for the degree of 300 credits , achieved at the conclusion of the flight training and award of the froze ATPL. Completed in 2 years.

BA (Hons) Students: Students study 90 credits by Flexible and Distributed Learning (FDL), then 30 credit Dissertation after conclusion of the flight training and award of the frozen ATPL.

CCAT LAP OF SILVERSTONE

On 3rd June, Silverstone Race Track saw a new team on the grid – and it wasn’t Brawn GP! The Sales and Marketing team from Cabair College of Air Training (CCAT) are normally signing up budding airline pilots for their First Officer Direct Integrated ATPL course at Cranfield.

However, on this sunny June evening they were treading the tarmac usually reserved for the likes of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton as they did a sponsored run around the circuit in the ‘Race for Life’.

Keren Caird, Calise Mole and Morgan Perry have now raised £500 for Cancer research and were just three of thousands of women, all wearing pink, who walked, ran or used wheelchairs to conquer the famous British circuit.

THE AIR LEAGUE CELEBRATES ITS CENTENARY

The Air League was founded in 1909 to promote interest and opportunities in aviation. For 100 years it has been liaising with the Government, Parliament, the Armed services, local authorities and the press to offer flying scholarships and bursaries. It has been responsible for creating many successful aviation careers and has contributed to the growth and development of aviation both civil and military.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron of The Air League, held a reception at Buckingham Palace on Thursday 4th June 2009 to thank supporters of The League and celebrate the Centenary.

SIGN A DOWNING STREET PETITION NOW : NO VAT ON TRAINING.

The government provides loans, grants and incentives to encourage university students to attain qualifications which often have little employment value and backs apprentice schemes for the majority of skilled professions yet it is ignorant to aspiring pilots.  Many countries such as France, Sweden and America provide low interest, unsecured course fee loans to their national student pilots and some even provide government finance.
